Hello hello!
I'm Bailey, the owner and principal designer of Bailey Bishop Design, a Custom Interior Design Studio, based in San Diego, California. With projects nationwide, we specialize in residential and commercial, new construction and remodel projects.
Growing up in New Mexico, I was immersed in a rich blend of art, culture, and languages that shaped my worldview from an early age. College allowed me to explore various artistic mediums, from ceramics and sculpture to welding and woodworking, while living abroad, living in Chile and learning Spanish (y siempre aprendiendo más dichos de la industria!), exposed me to even more global design perspectives.
After graduating from San Diego State University and working for years as an investment banker (earning my Series 7 license to underwrite muni-bonds, no less), I craved something more creative and returned to formally study the social science of Interior Design, ultimately becoming a Certified Interior Designer.
We may not end up on some funky ayahuasca trip in the desert, but this is definitely your journey to transformation!
Combining my financial skills and my ability for translating a business identity into a physical environment, I worked in commercial design, space planning and permitting tenant improvement projects, and also in hospitality design, developing unique design concepts for the largest architects and design build firms in San Diego, on some of our city’s most iconic bars and restaurants.
Today, my design philosophy centers on drawing out my clients' true desires, and elevating my craft. Through collaboration with local artists, fabricators, and the thoughtful integration of meaningful materials, heirlooms, and an expansive range of interior products, I create spaces that authentically resonate with my clients' lives, enriching and elevating their daily experience.
When I’m not designing, I love playing volleyball and pickleball (thank you San Diego sunshine!), nerding out on all things tech, flying as a licensed VFR Private Pilot (IFR in training) and traveling extensively in search of design inspiration, and getting off the beaten path.
At the end of the day, nothing feels better to me than empowering my clients to live a life they love, and removing the stress of the design process. We realize the profound impact a space can have on your life, and we cannot wait to work with you.

We were fortunate to be introduced to Bailey when remodeling. She helped us put special touches throughout our home, that felt uniquely “ours” ranging from custom-height kitchen cabinets, an oversized island, a custom range, bookcase built-ins designed around structural columns, and more. She even makes “fly through” renderings so you can see the complete vision!It was a lot of fun working with Bailey to make our home uniquely ours.
I worked with Bailey on a project with a lot of detailed and difficult elements that were new to me. (i.e. electrified mortise lock, electrified hinges). Bailey was extremely detail oriented and easy to communicate with throughout the whole process. Over the course of several months, we worked together to come up with the solutions needed for the clients requests. I highly recommend Bailey to anyone looking for a designer who is going to put as much effort and care into the project as she would her own home. Bailey took our inherited dilapidated 50 year old house and transformed it into the retirement home of our dreams. As the project progressed Bailey's technological skills kicked in. She created and was able to share with us 3-D computer "fly throughs" of what the house was going to look like. It was her vision inspired by our input. She showed us many furniture options, all beautiful in keeping with our "beach house/canyon view" theme. She envisioned bringing the outside in and created a gorgeous patio with dining table, jacuzzi deck, couch and fire pit. Our house is beautiful, comfortable and perfect! We have Bailey to thank for that!
Bailey is great and really helped us transform our downstairs living space. She listened to what we wanted, provided some solid options, and helped us draw up the final project. The visual was perfect for us to really "see" what we wanted and with our contractor so he knew exactly what we were expecting. You won't be disappointed!
Eight days after my elderly husband passed away, a flood occurred in the laundry and bathroom area of my condo. I needed help with restorative choices for flooring, wall covering, paint colors, and so forth. Searching the internet, I found Bailey as a possible source for help. During that tender time in my life, Bailey turned out to be just right for what I needed. She navigated through the restoration process with a well-balanced sense of respect for my situation and for the business at hand. Outdoor living is a must in San Diego, I wanted to create a space to relax & entertain, reaching out to Bailey was by far the best decision. Since my outdoor remodel i've also had the pleasure of working with her on an interior design refresh. Her level of professionalism, attention to detail & creative vision will keep me going back. It is with great pleasure that I write this review for my interior designer/decorator/project manager, Bailey Bishop. We had many reservations about whether to sell vs renovate but once we met Bailey the excitement set in and the journey began. She took the time to get to know us and we became fast friends. First, her architectural skills kicked in and she completely re-designed the space. She worked closely and well with our contractor, painter, electrician, tile guy, HVAC company, dry wall, landscaper, etc. Bailey managed them all with grace and a super-human ability to stay calm with a "get it done" attitude...
We needed to update the pink and purple color scheme of our newly purchased vacation condo in Puerto Peñasco, Mexico. With our budget in mind, BBD created a complementary paint color palette integrated with existing furnishings, travertine tile and granite countertops. She also procured competitive international furniture and window covering purchases to complete the project. The condo regularly receives 5 star reviews on AirBnB and VRBO. Bailey was able to interpret our vision, assess our needs and produce just what we wanted. Thank you!
